Strawberry Margarita Recipe | Fresh, fruity, and Easy to make

This isn't a sugar bomb. It's a classic margarita with real strawberries, bright, lightly sweet, and finished with a clean citrus bite. No syrupy mixes. Just fresh fruit, good Tequila, and a little know-how.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 3 oz Tequila Blanco 100% agave, don't skimp here
  • 1 oz orange liqueur Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup adjust to taste.
  • Ice
  • Kosher salt or Tajín for the rim
  • Lime wedges & strawberries for garnish

Method

Prep the Glass
  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two short cocktail glasses. Dip the rims in a plate of kosher salt or Tajín. Fill glasses with fresh ice and set them aside.
Muddle the Strawberries
  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the strawberries until they release their juices and break down completely. This gives the drink real fruit flavor, not just color.
Add and Shake
  1. Add tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup to the shaker. Fill it with ice. Shake hard for about 15 seconds. You want it cold and slightly aerated.
Strain and Serve
  1. Double-strain (using a fine mesh strainer) into the prepared glasses. This removes the strawberry seeds and pulp for a smoother sip.
Garnish
  1. Add a lime wheel or fresh strawberry to the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

Freshness matters here. Strawberries, lime juice, and tequila are the three pillars of this drink, so use ripe berries, juice your limes, and skip the cheap tequila. The balance between sweet and sour can vary slightly depending on the season and the berries, so always taste before you pour. A great margarita doesn’t come from a mix; it comes from paying attention.
